The “Growing Stronger” Summer STEM Program located in the Garden of Faith Community Garden, is an interactive, hands-on educational experience that combines the power of gardening with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) principles. Designed for youth, our program uses the natural environment as a living classroom to inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. We provide hands on experiences from STEM activities to community gardening that foster creativity, responsibility and leadership.
LaToyia Okere is the Lead Teacher for our Growing Stronger STEM Summer Youth Program. With a background in STEM education and hands on learning, LaToyia Okere brings passion, creativity, and a commitment to helping young people discover their potential. As an educator who believes every child is naturally curious, her approach encourages youth to explore, ask questions and build confidence through learning.
Our mission is dedicated to guiding students as they investigate the world around them, nurture their leadership skills, and grow academically, socially and creatively. We strive to inspire, equip, and uplift youth through meaningful STEM learning experiences rooted in community, connection, and growth. We aim to cultivate curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and help young people discover the joy of learning while building lifelong skills that strengthen our neighborhoods.
Our Summer Youth STEM Program is seeking volunteers who believe in the power of community and education. Volunteers help guide STEM activities, support outdoor learning in our community garden, assist with small groups, and create a safe, welcoming environment for our youth.
